We just had the unfortunate luck of having to reconfigure our servers that host some of our blogs and websites. We were asked to download some SQL files to our hard drive and the reload them back to the main server. Luckily for us they were able to remotely dial into our PC’s and help us with the configuration without having to send in a tech guy which might have taken hours or even days.

Next time you are sitting in line, or in a metting you may be able to watch the latest rendition of the “Shrimp on the treadmill” or ” the recreation of Justin Timberlakes ” Sexy Back” by some kid in Wisconsin.

In a proposed deal with Verizon wireless the ability to bring new fresh content to users cell phone is getting some attention. The fight to gain new customer in the cell phone market is fierce. Just this past weekend I saw an ad for a free Motorola Razr Phone, plus $200 back to be used in store for your purchases. With this new deal, subscribers of Verizons V Cast service will be able to view YouTube videos that have been selected by Verizon.

This helps Verizon in the lure of content for it’s customers and increases the customer base for YouTube. This agreement will allow Verizon to be the only mobile phone company to carry distribute YouTube videos for a limited time. While I have not seen the videos on a phone, I can imagine there may need to be some work done as the videos are generally not high in quality. Taking into account that you will now be viewing those on a small 2 inch screen, will be interesting to watch. I guess you don’t need high quality when you are watching a shrimp run on a treadmill.

I believe that with this new partnership, others will blossom. The one company that will allow their customers to use their phones video capacity, and be able to upload videos to YouTube or other video sharing services will be a huge winner. I am sure the technology exists, it is just matter of having the right phone, and the right provider.

The Apples new iPhone has been generating steam for the past few months and now the release is taking place and many people are waiting in line to get their iPhone. If it is anything like the commercials it will be amazing and could change the face of your cell phone and other multi media devices. I for sure will be looking to upgrade my phone in the next few months after the hype has calmed down. I predict that this will be hot item for Christmas, just like some of the more popular video game systems.

We have been hearing about current radio stations offering broadcasts in High definition, and this will also allow more channels and better quality. This traditional radios attempt to combat the move to satellite radio by consumers. So now we will be asked to invest in new stereo systems, and car radios to benefit from these digital signals. The new radios are being called Digital Audio Broadcasting or DAB. These new radios are able to receive the new digital signals that will be sent from radio stations. I have been reading various articles on how to optimize your blog for search engines. I have picked up some good tips like, use the Permalink function to include the title and category of your blog, rather than the de-facto numbering that WordPress uses. This makes good sense from a search engine standpoint. There are also a ton of plug ins that are available for WordPress blogs and other, but you should be somewhat technically savvy to use them, and apply them correctly.

Getting the Spiders to notice

Here’s are some ideas that we came across to help you get your blog noticed by the Search engines:

1. if you get your site’s link in the path of the search engine spider or robot of your choice, in this case Googlebot, if may follow it.
2. the way to get it to follow the link is to make sure it can “see” your link
3. if your content fills a need that the search engine’s database of links has, it will include your link, and,
4. if your link fills a deficit better than any other site, in accordance with Google’s secret formula or algorithm, it will rank your page well.

So now, the only missing component necessary to our success is now finding out how to be the best site Google finds for a category that has a deficit.

One of the strengths of Google, as perceived by people who like it, is the vast amount of fresh content it contains that is relevant to almost any topic, or keyword, typed into it, no matter how narrow or broad

In the world of link exchange there are a number of ways in which to enhance your back links as well as increase your Page Rank and search engine visibility. One of the best ways is to have others link back to your site or blog because of a featured article or product that you sell. There are so called link farms which have a mixed review based on the techniques that are used. There are a many sites that offer free link popularity checks for your URL. Why is it so important to have sites that link into you? Google and other search engines appear to be placing more value on links that are coming into a site, than they used too. It used to be that optimizing keywords and enhancing your meta tags would help. While the keywords and their placement is still critical I have seen articles that meta tags may not hold that much weight. Remember though that you want to be linked too quality sites, so if you are linking to sites that have been blacklisted by Google and other search engines, you will only hurt your chances of getting ranked higher in search engines for your keywords and topics.

I was at the mall today with the family and noticed one of the music stores selling cell phones specifically equipped for MySpace. This has been something we have written about in the past. The company that can merge the social networking craze with mobile technology will have a very good niche to sell into. The next frontier will being able to easily blog about activity from your cell phone to provide instant news for the many bloggers that are online today.
