The Iowa caucus is officially over and the winners were Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee. The democratic race was close and the polls were leaning towards Obama, but Huckabee came from way back being outspent in the state nearly 20 to 1 by Mitt Romney. This will increase the political battle and the attack ads will certainly heat up. Obama in reports has always stated that becoming President was not a life long goal, but thanks to aggressive journalism a paper that was written by Obama in kindergarten contradicts this point.

Watch this comedy from Freddy Lockhart as he plays a Obama in the 1970’s on his wishes for the Presidency. This video portrays Obama as a college kid on mushrooms who accidentally finds the internet through his TV and the site called YouTube. The impersonation is very good and is sure to raise some interest from the political candidates. Please note that because some of the content you must be over 18 to view this video.

This Christmas will be the first time in 6 years that we will not be traveling to in-laws to celebrate the holidays. We would travel across the country and drag our Christmas presents with us to show our love and appreciation. This year since we will not be with my parents they just asked for something simple and something that contains pictures. Since they are only able to visit with the kids 1-2 times per year they are always asking for recent pictures. Thanks to digital photography we have been able to share photos almost instantly with them. We are going to be creating a 12 month calendar of the kids and sending that out to Grandma and Grandpa so that they have them available all throughout the year. Keeping in the digital theme we are going to be sending out Photo Cards to our friends and family to keep them up to date on how we are doing in our new location. 4 aces what? We play a lot of variations of guts games and 7 card stud. one guts game we play is called “Kings and Babies” Which means that this is a 5 card draw guts game where Kings and your low hold card is wild. Everyone is dealt 5 cards, then the dealer counts to 3 and says drop. If you think you can win with your hand you stay in, if not you drop. If you the only to stay in, you can draw up to 5 cards, but you must beat the deck. (The top 5 cards are turned over) If you win you take the pot, if you loose, you must match the pot and the game goes on. In the event more than one person stays, the person starting to the left of the dealer is allowed to take cards, and then so on around the table. Everyone show their hand, and the person with the best hand wins the pot, and everyone else matches. This is how the pot grows. Usually you need at least a strong 4 of kind to win, but you can stay and hope no one else does and hope to get a good draw. We have had times where the deck has drawn 5 of a kind, and the person who stayed had 5 aces. OUCH!
